Raccoon and Squirrel Removal from Multi-Attic Roof System — Brampton

Job Overview

Location: Brampton, Ontario
Structure: Large three-storey residential house with multiple rooflines and attics
Problem: Wildlife noise in attic during early morning and evening hours
Service: Humane raccoon and squirrel removal with full roofline exclusion
Visits: 2

Summary

The customer reported hearing sounds in the ceiling in the early morning which is consistent with squirrel activity. Pest Control Brampton was contacted after the homeowner reported persistent attic noises consistent with wildlife activity. Our inspection confirmed the presence of both a raccoon family group and a squirrel, each using separate entry points along the roof and soffit system. A two-visit wildlife removal and exclusion plan was completed to safely evict the animals and permanently secure all identified vulnerabilities.

Background / Property Context

The home is a large, three-storey structure with multiple roof intersections, valleys, vents, and attic voids. These complex rooflines increase the likelihood of wildlife access when soffit intersections, vents, or roof transitions are not fully reinforced.

Customer Concern

The homeowner reported scratching, thumping, and movement sounds in the attic during early mornings and evenings. These timeframes aligned with normal diurnal squirrel activity and nocturnal raccoon movement, prompting a full wildlife inspection.

Inspection & Findings

During the initial inspection, our team identified:

  • A raccoon entry point at a soffit intersection where panels had shifted
  • A separate squirrel entry point on another roof section
  • Evidence of repeated roofline travel between attic areas
  • Multiple roof penetrations (vents and ridge lines) vulnerable to future entry

Inspection confirmed this was late raccoon baby season, and the young were already mobile within the attic space.

Cause Analysis

The issue developed due to the combination of complex roof geometry, multiple attic spaces, and unreinforced soffit and vent transitions. These areas provide shelter, warmth, and repeated access points for opportunistic wildlife such as raccoons and squirrels. Seasonal breeding behavior further increased attic use.

Treatment / Removal

On the first visit, humane one-way exclusion systems were installed:

  • A steel-framed, spring-loaded plexiglass one-way door for the adult raccoon
  • A secondary baby-specific one-way door allowing young raccoons to exit safely
  • A separate one-way door for squirrel removal

This setup ensured all animals could vacate the attic spaces without the ability to re-enter.

Exclusion & Repairs

With wildlife exclusion underway, the homeowner approved full preventative reinforcement, which included:

  • 14 roof vent covers using galvanized steel micro-mesh
  • 4 ridge vents secured with galvanized steel mesh
  • 2 plumbing vents sealed at the shingle base with galvanized steel mesh
  • 4 soffit intersections reinforced with galvanized steel mesh
  • 6 linear feet of soffit protection installed
  • 1 wall vent secured with galvanized steel mesh

All materials were mechanically fastened and contoured to the roof and soffit surfaces for long-term durability.

Outcome & Confirmation

On the second visit, our team returned after allowing sufficient time for wildlife evacuation. All one-way doors were removed, entry points were permanently sealed, and exclusion work was reinspected. No further wildlife activity was observed or reported following completion.

Technician Notes

The primary technician on this project was Ardian, who confirmed successful evacuation of both raccoon and squirrel activity and verified that all exclusion materials were securely installed and properly aligned with the roof structure.
